Rudolf [later: George] LAUB (born on March 15th, 1908 in Vienna/Austro-Hungaria, died on June 23th, 1999 in the USA), son of Dr. Moritz Laub (physician), was assistant doctor ("Hilfsarzt ") at the laryngological station (head: Prof. Neumann) at the Medical School of the University of Vienna. He had studied medicine at the University of Vienna and graduated there on May 20th, 1932 and gained the degree of a "Dr. med.univ.". He was an assistant doctor ("Hilfsarzt Kategorie A") at the First medical university-clinic since 1933 and later an assistant doctor ("Hilfsarzt") at the laryngological station. He was persecuted in times of Nazism for racist reason as a Jew. After the so called "Anschluss" he was suspended in mid of March 1938, lost his position in the laryngological station and was dismissed at the end of April 1938 and was forced to leave the university, as well as the Vienna chamber of physicians ("Wiener Aerztekammer") on July 25th, 1938. He had to flee from Austria and could manage to emigrate to the USA in July 1938, where he arrived on August 18th, 1938 in New York. He lived and worked then in New Bern/North Carolina, married on October15th, 1940 in South Carolina Hariett Elizabeth Stith und changed his surname from Rudolf to "George" when naturalized and became a citizen of the USA. He then lived in Columbia/South Carolina. George Laub died on June 23rd, 1999 in the USA.
