Johann KAMPTNER (born on August 22nd, 1904 in Krems a.d. Donau/Lower Austria), had graduated at the Philosophical School at the University of Vienna in German language and literature Studies on December 13th, 1927 with the academic degree 'Dr. phil.' (dissertation: 'Hermann Rollett 1819-1904. Eine Monographie.'). He worked as a teacher at the secondary school in Waidhofen an der Thaya.
In March 1938 he was dismissed from his position - he had been consultant for propaganda of the "Vaterländischen Front". In 1940 he was arrested, accused and convicted of "Zersetzung der Wehrkraft" (he had stolen his "Wehrstammblatt" to decelerate his military draft. On May 8th, 1941 he was deprived of his academic degree because of his political opinion.
It took 62 years since the deprivation – and a very long time since the end of Nazism – until the regranting of the doctorate took finally place on April 10th, 2003 posthumously in a solemn ceremony.
