Alice (Lily) HUPPERT (nee DOKTOR), born on October 26th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Bielsko-Biala/Poland, Citizenship: Poland), daughter of Oskar Doktor (merchant, bookkeeper) and his wife Gisella nee Krieger, lived in Vienna 18th district, Gentzgasse 137. After she had graduated from high school in Vienna on June 21st, 1932, she began to study medicine at the University of Vienna in fall term 1932/33.
During her studies – on July 29th, 1936 – she married Dr. Peter Huppert (born on November 25th, 1910 in Bielitz), a law school alumnus, at the Jewish Community of Vienna and left for Bielsko-Biala/Poland with him.
After antisemitic pogroms they returned to Vienna and she continued her studies for a short while. She was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 5th year of her studies ('Absolutorium' was certified on December 5th, 1938).
Alice and Peter Huppert visited Great Britain in February 1938 and did not return to Austria after the "Anschluss". In exile she was not able to continue her studies. Initially unemployed she then found a job as a factory worker. Since October 1940 she worked as a bookkeeper and Warehouse Attendant at the
The Conrad Press in London.
During the war her husband went to New York/USA and was inducted in the US Army Intelligence Service.
In November 1944 she also emigrated to New York/USA, where she arrived in December. She received the US-American citizenship, lived in New York City and worked as a bookkeeper since 1945. Her parents were both murdered in the Shoah.
On May 21st, 1963 she made an application for compensation for the loss in her education at the "Fonds zur Hilfeleistung an politisch Verfolgte, die ihren Wohnsitz und ständigen Aufenthalt im Ausland haben" (Neuer Hilfsfonds).
