Viktor (Hermann) GRUNDMANN, born on April 1st, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, citizenship 1938: Austria), son of Ernst Grundmann (d. 1935, cotton trade Heller&Grundmann, Vienna's 1st district, Gonzagagasse 19) and Hildegard Grundmann, née Ullmann (b. 1890), lived in Vienna's 9th district, Fuchsthallergasse 43, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 3rd year of his studies .
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on July 19th, 1938).
Viktor Grundmann had to flee Austria and presumably managed to emigrate via Switzerland to the British Mandatory of Palestine [Israel], together with his fiancée Mariem Neche Liebermann (false Schipper), born in 1912 in Nowy Sacz, Galicia [Poland]. They arrived together in Palestine on February 28th, 1939, she with a passport issued in Vienna in September 1938, he with a passport issued in Zurich/Switzerland on December 31st, 1938. They married in Jerusalem on July 26th, 1939, settled in Tel Aviv and applied for Palestinian citizenship in 1942, which they were granted on January 8th, 1943. His job title at the time: clerk.
How the marriage ended and why he later moved to France is not known.
He then lived in and around Lyon and was married to Renée Louise Baugniel (1926-2009) and they had three children, among them Olivier Alfred Grundmann (1952-2009).
Viktor Hermann Grundmann died at the age of 91 on January 5th, 2007 in Décines Charpieu in Greater Lyon, Rhône/France.
