Moses Gottlieb studied law from fall term 1919/20 to spring term SS 1923 at the Law School and graduated on March 27th, 1924 at the University of Vienna. He was granted a "Dr. jur." (LL). On September 25th, 1932 he married in the Vienna Stadttempel Ilona (Helena) Kassowitz (b. July 21st, 1913 in Fiume/Austro-Hungarian Empire [later: Italy, today Rijeka/Croatia], d. Before beginning his chemical studies at the Philosophical School in autumn 1936 Dr. Maximilian Gottlieb asked for a new copy of his law diploma as he has changed his prename from "Moses" to "Maximilian" meanwhile. Maximilian Gottlieb lived and worked for nearly one more year in Paris and Versailles/France, but was able to leave France before the German invasion for the USA via Le Havre/France on February 12th with the SS De Grasse, arriving in New York City, NY/USA on February 26nd, 1940, where the family was reunited.
Later they moved to in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, USA and he worked there in the local textile industry (Empire Woolen Mills Company).
