Chaja FRAENKEL (nee WIRTH), born on April 24
th, 1903 in Przemyśl/Poland (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Przemyśl/Poland, citizenship: Poland), lived in Vienna 20
th district, Rafaelgasse 30/4. She was finally enrolled in fall term 1931/32 at the Philosophical School of the University of Vienna studying pharmaceutics in the 5
th year. "Absolutorium" was issued on December 4
th, 1933). In fall term 1933/34 she was enrolled as postgraduate trainee ("Frequentantin") at the Philosophical School, no more with her maiden name
Wirth but with her married name
Fränkel and with the academic degree "Mag.pharm.". Chaja Fränkel wasn't enrolled at the Philosophical School any more in 1938, but was preparing for the final exams ("Rigorosen"). She could finally finish her studies and graduated on October 31
st, 1938, but only with the discriminating ceremony of a "Nichtariersponsion", which included at the same time that she was banned from her profession.
She married around 1933 Arie Wirth (1898-1969), also from Przemyśl, and a graduated of History from the University of Vienna in 1935, and together they emigrated to Great Britain and in 1940 with
SS Britannic from Liverpool to New York/USA, where they arrived on June 21st, 1940. Her brother Moses Wirth already lived in Brooklyn, NY.
