Dr. Wolfgang Erich FANTL, born on December 17, 1910 in Vienna/Austria as son of the ophthalmologist Dr. Friedrich Fantl and married in 1937 Dr. phil. Gertrude Fantl, nee Elster (born November 9, 1911) and bvam an assistent doctor only on March 1, 1938. He was employed as assistent doctor III class ("Assistent III. Klasse") at the II Ophthalmological University Clinic (Prof. Lindner) until end of March 1938. After the takeover of power by National-Socialism in March 1938 he was forced to leave the University and the clinic for racist reason. Wolfgang Erich FANTL had to flee from Austria and could emigrate to the USA in November 1938. He lived in Glencoe/Illinois and deceased in Chicago in 1948.
