Heinz DUKES, born on December 5
th, 1916 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Leopold (1881-1949, Lipman) Dukes (merchant) and Györgyike (Georgina) Dukes, née Scheiber (1892-1978), lived in Vienna's 13
th district, Trauttmansdorffgasse 50, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 3
rd year of his studies.
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (leaving certificate ["Abgangszeugnis"] issued on June 11
th 1938).
He had to flee Vienna - it is still unclear whether he was able to emigrate in time to survive. His parents and his sister Helene Viktoria (1912-1993) managed to escape to England/Great Britain, where they lived in Surrey and where the father died in September 1949. The mother died in 1978 and the sister in 1993 in Carshalton, Greater London/Great Britain.
