Anton CAHN-SPEYER, born on February 13th, 1918 in Vienna (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna), son of Dr. Paul and Mary Cahn-Speyer (manufacturer), lived in Vienna 3rd district, Am Heumarkt 27. He graduated from high school in 1936 (Vienna 1st district, 'Bundesrealgymnasium' Stubenbastei 6-8) and started his law studies in fall term 1937/38 at the Law School of the University of Vienna. He was enrolled finally in spring term 1938 at the Law School in the 1st year of his studies as he was forced to leave the university after the "Anschluss" in 1938.
Although of protestant religion he was regarded to be a Jew due to Nuremberg Blood Law.
His parents Dr. Paul Cahn-Speyer (1881-1978, manufacturer, "Felten & Guilleaume" with factories in Vienna, Bruck/Mur, Diemlach and Graz) and Mary (nee Krassny von Krassien, 1893-1953) Cahn-Speyer were able to emigrate but lost all their properties ("arisiert"). His brother Peter studied at the School for Mechanical engineering at the Technical School Vienna, could take the Second State Examination on July 9. July 1938 but then was also forced to leave the School. He could emigrate to England and worked there as a translator for technical literature.
