Gertrude ALT (later married Gertrud Margalit DRACH), born on July 24
th, 1917 in Sopron [Györ]/Hungary (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Kobersdorf/Burgenland, Citizenship: Austria), was the daughter of Joszna (Josua) Alt (1884-1919) and his wife Hermine nee Gerstl (1885-1944, restorer in Sopron), and lived in Vienna 2
nd district, Tandelmarktgasse 12/13.
After she had graduated from high school ('Realgymnasium') in Vienna 21
st district in February 1936, she began to study medicine at the University of Vienna in fall term 1936/37.
Gertrude Alt was finally enrolled in spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 2
nd year of her studies (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on March 30
th, 1938). She was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
Gertrud Alt married Egon Drach (1914-2000) and they had two children, Monique Drach and Laurence Drach.
Gertrud Margalit Drach died on May 10
th, 2013 at the age of 96 years in Netanya/Israel.
