Gerhart ALTMANN, born on November 11th, 1916 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Dr. Siegfried Altmann (1887–1963, director of the Jewish Institute for the Blind ("Israelitisches Blindeninstitut")) and Else Altmann (née Siebenschein), lived in Vienna's 19th district, Hohe Warte 32, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 2nd year of his studies (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on April 28th, 1938). In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
