Emil BRAND, born on May 13th, 1912 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria) was the son of Ruben Brand (merchant in Viennas 20th district, Wallensteinstrasze) and Tilla Brand. He lived in Viennas 20th district, Brigittenauer Laende 46, was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 4th year of his studies (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was issued on September 23rd, 1938, fall term 1937/38 was validated on January 28th, 1938). He emigrated via Luxembourg, Belgium and Great Britain to the USA in 1940. His Viennese studies war not accepted there, so he had to return to Vienna after the war in 1949 to finish his medical studies here after only 15 months and gained the medical doctoral degree in 1951 (his American girl-friend joined him in Vienna and they married here in the Rothschild-hospital). His doctoral degree from Vienna was only accepted at the University of Albany after some political intervention so that he could finally establish his own practice in the USA.. He passed away in June 2001.
