Walter Süssmann (später Sussman)

Walter SÜSSMANN (later SUSSMAN), born on June 26th, 1918 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), died, 2001 in New York/USA, son of Oskar Süssmann (merchant), lived in Wien 7, Lerchenfelder Straße 139. After passing his A-levels at the high school ('realgymnasium') in Wien 7, he was enrolled at the University of Vienna from fall term 1936/37 until finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Law School in the 2nd year of his studies. He was simultaneously a student at the Vienna Consular Academy.
In 1938 he was persecuted and imprisoned by the Nazis in Vienna between March and September, 1938. After release, he escaped from Austria to Great Britain and later on to the USA.
