Thea RUFF (later married: HACKER), born on October 24th, 1918 in Maehrisch Ostrau [Ostrava]/Czechoslovakia [Czech Republic] (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, citizenship 1938: Austria), daughter of Dr. Samuel Ruff (physician, died November 13th, 1940) and Emilie Henriette Ruff (née Hirsch, 1890-1956). They all lived in Vienna's 3rd district, Hiessgasse 15. Thea Ruff was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 2nd year of her studies.
She was forced to leave the University of Vienna for racist reason and could not continue with her studies under Nazi regime (leaving certificade ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on May 8th, 1938).
She had to flee from Austria and could leave the country in August 1938 and emigrated to the USA in August 1940. She could not finish her studies there and she lived and worked in different places in the USA.
In the 1950s she lived together with her husband, Paul G. Hacker, and her mother in Verona, New Jersey.
