Sara Ettel ROSEN, born on January 11th, 1915 in Brzeżany, Galicia/Austro-Hungarian empire [later: Poland, today: Bereschany|Бережани/Ukraine], daughter of Binein Rosen (merchant in Brzeżany), lived in Vienna's 5th district, Ramperstorffergasse 25/8. After graduation from highschool in Brzeżany in 1937 she came to Vienna to study medicine. She was enrolled in spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 1st year of her studies. In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna (Leaving Certificate ('Abgangszeugnis') was only issued after the end of the war on October 30th, 1946).
