Hans POLLAK, born on July 26^th, 1913 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Ing. Geza (Gustave) Pollak (engineer, b. 1875) and his wife Helen(e) (née Schneider, 1886-1978), lived in Vienna's 4^th district, Gußhausstr. 3, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5^th and last year of his studies. In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna. He had to flee from Nazi-occupied Vienna and Austria and first managed to get to Switzerland and from there to emigrate (with a visa issued in Zurich) on April 22^nd, 1939 from Southampton / England with the SS Aquitania to New York in the USA. At the 16^th US Census, on April 22^nd, 1940, he was admitted to the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, Fulton, New York as a doctor with the academic degree "Dr. (MD). Later he married Lisbeth Lotte Altmann (1916-1993), also expelled from the University of Vienna in 1938, and lived and worked as a physician with his wife and their four children till their end in Gloversville. He deceased in the age of 87 on March 11^th in Gloversville, New York/USA.
