Franziska (later: Frances) POLLAK, born on November 20
th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr. Alexander Pollak (senior physician 'Medizinalrat'), lived in Vienna's 3
rd district, Erdbergstr. 90, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 4
th year of her studies.
In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.
She had to flee from Nazi-occupied Vienna and Austria and succeeded to emigrate - unknown when and where to. Only in 1948 a transit visa is issued by the Austrian embassy in London for her, still Austrian cititzen, with which Franziska Pollak travelled on June 6
th, 1948 from Southhampton/Great Britain with the MS Batory to New York in the USA. She mentioned no academic degree and as occupation: nurse. In October 1949 she lived and worked in Emory Dekalb/Georgia, USA as a physical therapist and applied for naturalization in 1950 and on this occasion changes her name from "Franziska" to "Frances").
There are no more traces to be found so far.
