Henryka BERGER (nee Both), born on January 15th, 1912 in Lemberg/Poland [Lwiw/Ukraine] (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Dr.iur. Benno Both (lawyer), and Dorothea (nee Spitzmann), lived in Vienna 1st district, Stadiongasse 5. Henryka was married to the lawyer Dr.iur. Jakob Berger (born on August 8th, 1908 in Lemberg/Poland [Lwiw/Ukraine]) and was enrolled finally in the fall term 1937/38 at the Medical School in the 5th and last year of her studies. Henryka and Jakob Berger had to flee Vienna and were able to emigrate to the USA via England from Liverpool on September 21st,  1940 with the the ship SS Scythia, arriving in New York on October 3rd, 1940.
Her parents were unable to escape in time and were deported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they were murdered on May 21st, 1944.

Rita Henryka and Jakob Berger lived in New York. Her husband died in 1976. Rita H. Berger died on November 17th, 2001 in New York City, NY/USA and is buried at Westchester Hills Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, Westchester County, NY, USA.
