Preamble

Following the advent of the National Socialist regime in the year 1938, more than 2,700 mostly Jewish affiliates of the University of Vienna were dismissed and subsequently driven away and/or murdered - lecturers, students and administration employees. Furthermore, over 200 people were stripped of their academic titles.

Stefanie WIENINGER, born on November 13th, 1914 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), daughter of Franz Wieninger (master tailor), lived in Vienna's 8th district, Lerchengasse 2, was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 4th and last year of her studies and took courses in English language and literature Studies, History and Philosophy. She got a grant from the Municipality of Vienna.

She registered for the final exams ('Rigorosen') on February 9th, 1938. But after the 'Anschluss' she was no more allowed to take the final exam and had to quit her studies.

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism she was forced to quit her studies and to leave the University of Vienna.
