Preamble

Following the advent of the National Socialist regime in the year 1938, more than 2,700 mostly Jewish affiliates of the University of Vienna were dismissed and subsequently driven away and/or murdered - lecturers, students and administration employees. Furthermore, over 200 people were stripped of their academic titles.

Hans HOLZER, born on January 26th, 1920 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ('heimatberechtigt') for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), son of Leo Holzer (master tailor) and Martha Holzer (née Stransky), lived in Vienna's 13th district, Auhofstrasse 116/2 ans started to study history and classical archeology in fall term 1937/38. He was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Philosophical School in the 1st year of his studies and took courses in History.

In 1938, after the takeover of power of National-Socialism he was forced to quit his studies for racist reason and to leave the University of Vienna.

Hans Holzer was able to emigrate to the USA with his family and studied Japanese Studies at Columbia University and later Comparative Religion and Parapsychology, where he - according to his own statements - earned a doctorate at the London College of Applied Science.
Hans Holzer became a famous author and paraspychologist who wrote over 120 books on the occult and supernatural, as well as theatre, film and musical screenplays (e.g.: Amityville Horror) and he hosted his own television show ("Ghost Hunter"). He married Catherine Buxhoeveden in 1962, from the later divorced marriage came two children.

Hans Holzer taught parapsychology at the New York Institute of Technology and died on April 6th, 2009 in New York City, New York, USA.
