Category: Expelled student
Bernhard "Bobby" JERUSALEM (later JENSEN), born on December 26th, 1915 in Vienna/Austria (entitled residency ("heimatberechtigt") for Vienna/Austria, Citizenship: Austria), was the son of Alfred Jerusalem (white-collar employee, authorized signatory) from the second marriage with Elisabeth (Liesl) nee Wolf and lived in Vienna 7th district, Lerchenfelder Strasse 117/13.
After he had graduated from high school ("Reformrealgymnasium") in Vienna 8th district, he began to study medicine at the University of Vienna in fall term 1933/34. He was enrolled finally in the spring term 1938 at the Medical School in the 5th year of his studies (Leaving Certificate ("Abgangszeugnis") was issued on May 25th, 1938).
In times of Nazism his older half-brother Fritz Jerusalem (Jensen) was deprived of his academic degree, which he had received at the University of Vienna, with the racist argument, that he as a Jew was not considered dignified an academic degree of a German university ('eines akademischen Grades einer deutschen Hochschule unwuerdig'). Bernhard Jensen was able to emigrate to New York/USA and married the future professor of history at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Gerda Kronstein (later married Lerner, 1920-2013) in 1939. Her family was able to escape to the USA with his help. The marriage was divorced in 1940.
On June 19th, 1942 he married Maria nee Wolheim (1923-2014) in second marriage in New York.

After the end of World War II Bernhard Jensen returned to Vienna and was able to continue his medical studies at the University of Vienna and to graduate on April 7th, 1949. After he had returned to Vienna his daughter Monika (1946-2009) and Elisabeth (born in 1951) were born in Vienna. On November 20th, 1958 the marriage was divorced.
In the same year Bernhard Jensen married Dr. Hedwig Jensen. In 1961 their daughter Shoshana Jensen (married Duizend) was born.

Bernhard Jensen died on March 22nd, 1961 at the age of 45 in Campitello di Fassa in Trentino-Alto Adige/Italy and was buried on April 5th, 1961 on Döbling cemetery in Vienna 19th district.
